AHMA Announces Keynotes for 2008 Hardlines Technology Forum

Schaumburg, Illinois, January 8, 2008. — As business and technology merge closer to drive business forward, the American Hardware Manufacturers Association (AHMA) today announced that two powerful and dynamic keynote speakers will address how business and technology are melding at the 2008 Hardlines Technology Forum®, scheduled to take place at the world-famous Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, April 21 – 24, 2008.

Dr. Ernest L. Nichols, Jr., the Director of the FedEx Center for Supply Chain Management at The University of Memphis will co-present the forum’s keynote address, along with Mr. Dick Raman, President and Chief Executive Officer of TIE Commerce, Inc.

“Dr. Nichols and Mr. Raman bring world class intelligence and learning to the 2008 HTF®, as we continue to explore how business and technology have to collaborate for companies to succeed in managing their supply chain,” said Timothy S. Farrell, president and chief executive officer of the American Hardware Manufacturers Association. “While historically HTF® has been a conference for IT executives and managers, we have recognized that in today’s environment, business and IT cannot survive without each other. To that end, we have developed a new track for 2008 dedicated to the business professional, dealing with such issues as customer service, sales calls of the future, supply chain visibility and eliminating chargebacks.”

An accomplished author, Dr. Nichols has published articles in Academy of Management Journal, Decision Sciences, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Journal of Operations Management, and is co-author of Introduction to Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain Redesign: Transforming Supply Chains into Integrated Value Systems. He currently serves on the Editorial Review Board for the International Journal of Procurement Management. Dr. Nichols has conducted SCM consulting projects and educational programs for a number of Fortune 500 corporations and governmental agencies.

Mr. Raman has gained worldwide recognition as a leading authority in the field of eCommerce. He is also an author, having published a number of successful books including “XML/EDI – Cyber Assisted Business in Practice”. The book explores the future of EDI and its relationship with the Internet. He is a recognized visionary and frequent keynote speaker at electronic commerce events worldwide. In addition to managing TIE Commerce, Mr. Raman has played a key role in standardization of global eCommerce through various private and United Nations-sponsored eCommerce standard organizations. Mr. Raman is a graduate of Free University of Amsterdam, having received a degree in Business Economics.
