A New Survey Finds 48 percent of Companies that Employ AEE Members Have a Greenhouse Gas Emission Policy
Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), a non-profit professional society of 8,500 members, has released its Market Survey of the Energy Industry. The survey is divided into three parts: Market Trends, AEE Income and Salary Trends, and Electric and Gas Purchasing and Energy Services.
According to Al Thumann, P.E. C.E.M., C.C.P. G.B.E., AEE Executive Director, The survey represents the most comprehensive and up-to-date polling of professionals responsible for energy efficiency, distributed generation and application of green technologies. The industry is growing due in light of companies' dedication to reducing carbon and promoting sustainable development.
The Association of Energy Engineers, now celebrating its 30th anniversary, is a group of energy professionals committed to increasing energy efficiency, utilizing innovative energy service options, enhancing environmental management programs, upgrading facility operations and improving equipment performance.
Highlights of the survey include:
59 percent of those surveyed believe the United States should support the Kyoto Protocol
The average salary for energy engineers is $87,090 with an average additional bonus of $8,486
79 percent indicated that distributed generation and cogeneration will become more important because of reliability and security issues
71 percent believe that the reliability on the national electric transmission grid has become less reliable over the past few years
42 percent indicated that new lighting technologies will have the highest priority for application at their facility in the near future
