AAFA Announces Recipients of 2007 ‘Excellence in Social Responsibility’ Award

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), Arlington, Va., has announced the winners of the 2007 annual AAFA “Excellence in Social Responsibility” (ESR) Award, given in recognition of outstanding corporate policies and actions that benefit employees, business and/or the community.

The awards, presented at the AAFA Executive Summit in Dana Point, Calif., were for the following four categories: Community Outreach, General Welfare, Health & Safety, and Preservation of the Environment.

The 2007 ESR award recipients are:
• prAna- Preservation of the Environment
• Rocky Brands- General Welfare
• Seamless Textiles Hanesbrands – Community Outreach
• TOS Dominicana Hanesbrands – Health & Safety

“AAFA is proud to recognize these companies for their commitment to develop and implement policies and broaden the scope of activities that benefit their employees and families as well as the communities in which they operate on a global scale,” said Kevin M. Burke, President & CEO, AAFA. “These companies are outstanding examples of the many steps companies across our industry take every day to support their workers and local communities around the world and at the same time, work towards protecting our environment.”

The Social Responsibility Award was developed by the AAFA's Social Responsibility Committee, which includes 37 members representing the U.S. apparel and footwear industries and related service organizations.
